I'm 20, I didnt live the 90s but I miss those days. not only when we talk about skateboarding coverage, but everything, including the raw and criminal thoughts that surround skateboarding at the time. I really believe that everything is changed and I agree that Internet is the main "activist" in this new phase. Truth is, skateboarding is easier now for everybody, not so fucking harsh on people's mind anymore... videos are just one of the many things this era has changed. and it sucks so bad.

to be totally honest, id rather watch interviews with skaters, or watch people talk about skating than watch johnny superam do hardflip back tails. i feel like you get so much more out of listening to your favorite pros talk about their experiences in skating than seeing someone do some bench trick that someones going to one up next week.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you - everyday news consist of around 10-20 new clips (every day, pretty much).

I could filter it down to a single good clip, but I do feel like I'm not in the position to force opinions on my site's visitors. That is what social media is perfectly suited for. Instead, I choose to post pretty much everything and let visitor decide what they want to see (and not even influence their opinion by writing long, subjective opinions).

As for the full lenght videos: they are pretty much done. On the positive side, much of the features that differentiate a skate video from an internet clip can be reproduced in a lenghtier skate clip (one rider or more with a few guest clips to get a different approach to the same spot etc.). It's just up to editors and filmers to keep all that in mind and try to pass it on to younger generations.

And those pesky view counts ... they will never really be good quality indicators. Or is porn really by far the best thing on the internet?
