Phew, that was a long weekend. Long but fun – that clip above is just one day of the comp, and the comp was just a part of the trips. Other parts included three parts parties and four parts street. Sky Wars was an event put up by DC and Mirax Group in Moscow this past weekend. The idea for the comp was that on the first day people from all around Russia battled it out on three street spots – a three flat four, an empty lido with banks and finally a 15 stair rail. Those who qualified made it to the finals on the 41st floor of a sky scraper being built in the center of Moscow by the Mirax Group as offices. Oskar and his crew had set up a small street course up there. It was pretty insane to be honest. Half built sky scraper, grimy skaters rolling in the dusty floor of uncoated concrete, billion ruble high society sipping JD and eating sushi, lounging on white leather sofas, the sun setting over the chaos of Moscow couple of hundred meters below. Safe bet that this was a first for all involved. Elisey filmed it all, so there will no doubt be another clip from the sky scraper in a couple of days time. And in due course, there will of course be a paper and ink article in Kingpin, detailing what happened when the HD was not rolling, but the crew was in full swing in the night life of the capital of the world’s proletariat.
Oh, a reminder from Henning, Norwegian outfit Röyksopp are releasing their new album just about now. Beautiful.
