The XC is a new ‘extreme sports’ centre in the county of Hertfordshire, England. It lies about 45 minutes to an hour North East of London and is the first of it’s kind in the UK. It hosts a wooden street course and mini ramp, climbing wall (keeps places like this in business), indoor organic caving system (fake underground tunnels) café and, most importantly for the purpose of this blog, some undercover concrete transitions. The larger of the 2 bowls has metal coping and the smaller, tighter one is a ‘pool’ style pour, with steps and concrete coping and, thank fook, is skateboarder only. Anyway, enough! Here’s some shots from a session we had the other day. Let’s hope Freestyle can help push the British skatepark construction in the right direction and keep building good pools with Pool coping; so much better than metal.
This thing is going to keep the people of London and surrounding areas going through the coming winter. Especially if you like skating pool coping.
Raemers was back in the UK for a hot minute so we met up, figured this was his kind of terrain. Well, everything is his kind of terrain. I like to think his thumbs up is Ben’s apology for swearing at you with his right hand. He can’t help but be nice.
This guy, however, has no problem with offending you. In fact it’s kind of his rule in life. Munson is the man responsible for Ben’s need to be berated when he’s trying tricks. It’s a hate-love thing.
But I think it’s safe to say we all hate-hate these guys. Arrrggh!
Anyway, back to the proper bowl, and to skateboarding. Raemers obliging with a lofty indy fakie, learned on the spot but that’s no biggie. Sometimes it’s easy to forget how naturally good Ben is..
Ipswichian, ‘Crab’ sliced this back tail over the box after a bit of a battle. Looked like he’d been landing it all day once he’d ridden away.
Munson and Raemers double up for old time’s sake. All too easy. But something’s not quite right here..
Ah there he is. Thanks for taking the time to get it right dudes.
And, just because: Raemers, frontside nosegrind tailgrab. If you’re in London or surrounding areas you might want to check this place out.
