Austyn Gillette

Californian pro Austyn Gillette is part of the 3D Skateboard Co team, and is also sponsored by Thunder Trucks, Bones Bearings, Small Wheels, Official Hats, Huf, Loud Headphones and Liberty board shop. He had a great year in 2013, culminating in a stand-out part in Huf’s Stoops Euro Tour video, also featuring skaters such as Dylan Rieder, Peter Ramondetta and Brad Cromer.

His other video parts include a number for Habitat, such as the full-length films Inhabitants (2007) and Origin (2010) and the Austyn Gillette: Unlimited promo from 2012, as well as DC’s King of Los Angeles contest vid from 2007 and the Quik video for Quiksilver. He also featured on the cover of the August 2010 issue of Transworld Skateboarding.

Austyn was born in the Los Angeles satellite town of La Habra on 21st June 1991. Encouraged by his brother Chad, he first got into skating at the age of eight and was soon impressing his friends with tricks on a Blind Reaper board. He was inspired to keep going by skaters such asNyjah Huston and Brad Staba, as well as the classic Shorty’s video Fulfill The Dream from 1998.

He turned pro in 2011 at the age of 19 for Joe Castrucci, creator of Habitat, and released his first pro shoe for the company the following year. However, someone with this much talent, particularly on flat ground, was bound to be in demand, and Austyn left Habitat in 2013 for Brian Anderson’s new company 3D Skateboards.
