Sammy Winter

Aussie Sammy Winter turned pro with French company Cliché Skateboards in 2013, and celebrated in style with a party at the Kibitz Room on Fairfax in Los Angeles. On the board, he immediately made his mark with an awesome short film for Cliché filmed in Sydney by Will Braden and Paul Brabenec.

Since breaking onto the scene in 2006, he’s also featured in ads for Destructo Trucks, Gravis Footwear and Analog Clothing. Towards the end of 2013, Sammy starred in legendary French director Fred Mortagne’s film for travel company Contiki’s ‘No Regrets’ series, in which Sammy explored a place that until then had always been off limits to skateboarders – the Cité de la Mode et du Design in Paris.

Sammy was born on 26th March 1986 in the the town of Eumundi, near Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. He was spotted by DC Shoes as 20-year-old, and featured in the company’s Australia Tour video from 2006, alongside riders such as Devine Calloway and Andrew Currie. He went on to have a part in DC’s King of New York film from 2007, before making his debut appearance for Cliché as an am in 2008’s Clé: A Live And Unplugged Video.

Riding a 8.4 x 32.6” Cliché (with offensive Marc McKee graphic, natch), Sammy seems to be on a non-stop trip around the world. Sydney one day, Paris the next, Los Angeles the week after … wherever he goes, he skates with style, and his elevation to the professional ranks was certainly well-deserved.
