On the cover of this month’s issue we’ve got Adrien Coillard taking out Geoff Rowley on Lyon’s famous hubba for the second time. Yep, the little guy who casually gap to bluntslid the beast in issue 110 went back for more.

In related “Bon Voyage” news, we covered Brophy, Flo, Joey, Pete Eldridge and Sammy Winter’s trip to China. The article should give you a good idea of the standard of skating we can expect from this new Cliché video. Only 4 days to go!

Since Element Europe are also working on a video (Hold It Down) we decided to send Sam Ashley to Morocco where Karsten, Nassim, Madars and Phil were out on a filming mission. Needless to say they absolutely killed it. With a crew like that what else would you expect?

We even managed to fit in Michi Mackrodt, Kenny Reed and globe trotting photographer Alexey Lapin’s recent trip to the Balkans.

As you can tell from the titles on the cover we’ve also picked the brains of some pretty funny characters this month. I’m sure a lot of you will find the Pearls Of Wisdom with the one and only “Give your life to Christ” Christian Hosoi quite interesting.

Samu Karvonen gets the first interview slot and tells us about organising a skate flea market, why he eats food from dumpsters and what he knows of Quicksilver’s plans for the Euro skate team. The second goes to Element Europe’s Jarne Verbruggen who came through with 16 pages of all terrain savagery. Finally we’ve got an Effect with Tom Day. Those of you who (like me) haven’t seen very much of him before this are in for a shock. This guy destroys some seriously unwelcoming terrain. Can’t wait to see the footage of these tricks in Heroin’s “Video Nasty“.

I reckon people are going to be blown away by this guy’s stuff in the new Cliché video, especially his ender. I’ve been a fan of Pete Eldridge’s flow ever since I saw that ridiculous 9 minute section he had in the Bootleg 3000 video ten years ago. There’s something so sick about how violently he stomps every flatground trick, it’s almost insolent. Give it another viewing if you haven’t watched it in a while, as far as combining power and finesse goes, this is as good as it gets.

You might as well watch his Mystery section while you are at it…

Just got back from Lyon where Cliché were having the premiere of their new video “Bon Voyage” at the indoor skatepark. I’m not going to tell you too much about the actual video because I don’t want to spoil any surprises but I can assure you it’s going be an instant classic. Everyone came through with amazing footage and Boris did a really good job with the filming/editing, staying true to the company’s image without necessarily imitating French Fred’s work. Lucas, Flo and JB’s parts were my favorites but I was also blown away by the younger generation. Adrien Coillard, Kevin Bradley (first time I see a 17 year old with such a solid push) and Maxime Géronzi absolutely killed it. Here are a bunch of photos I took (or nicked from Cliché or Facebook…). Some of them might be a little blurry due to the impressive amount of free beer floating around but they should give you an idea of how things went.

Jérémie Daclin had the hectic Jam session under control.

By 7pm the skatepark was rammed with impatient skateboarders desperately trying to find a good seat for the video.

Cliché hooked us up with some tasty donuts.

Bumped into JB, Gégé, Al and Boris at the airport. Everyone seemed pretty rinsed from this weekend… Have fun in L.A guys!

All in all it was an incredible weekend, I can’t wait for Bon Voyage to finally drop on iTunes and DVD (28th and 26th of April).

In the meantime you might as well rewatch this.

No matter how much we enjoyed Mauro’s part, with 50 new sections coming out every day it’s easy for us to forget all about it. This black and white wallpaper featuring his steezy switch backside flip could serve as a good reminder that watching these 4 minutes of Sicilian magic will always be a fast and efficient way to get hyped before a session. All you need to do is choose the size that fits your screen and save the image.
