Jenkem, one of our favorite skate blogs, has just posted an interesting reply to my article entitled “How is the internet changing the way we appreciate skate videos?”

I’m glad someone noticed that I was getting a little carried away… I guess watching videos all day really gets to you!

On the other hand, I’m still convinced that the mass-proliferation of skate videos via the internet makes it harder for us to enjoy the good stuff, simply because of how it’s diluted. That’s why we recently created a “Top 5 edits of the month” section, hoping it would help support the parts/edits we don’t want to see labelled “just another web clip” and forgotten.

Anyway, what do you guys think? How is the internet changing the way we appreciate skate videos?

In 2008 Danny Renaud fell from the 9th floor of a building, miraculously landing in a bush. He shattered both his legs, but if it wasn’t for that bush he would probably be dead. At the time everyone was convinced he would never set foot on a board again, so seeing him on Politic and doing switch front shovs down double sets comes as quite a shock!

If you still don’t understand why we are making such a big deal about the fact that this guy is skating again, just watch his Mosaic part, you’ll see what all the fuss is about.

Jenkem posted an insightful article about the importance of independent board companies. When the Paris edit in the Megamix video came out a few weeks ago, I found the whole homoerotic vibe really funny, but a lot of skateboarders aren’t exactly very open minded, so I didn’t think it was going to be very well received. But I was wrong. Completely wrong in fact. That’ll teach me to have preconceived ideas about my fellow skaters. Why don’t I have faith in them anymore?

Anyway, the only comment I found that wasn’t praising the edit was, “French people are gay!”, and thats not exactly hating on it either, just stating the obvious.

Instead people were expressing their support. Well, kind of: “So gay it made me laugh my fucking ass off.” “COULDNT STOP LAUGHING THEY SHOULD RENAME IT MACHO TAILDROP” and “My Grandpa just came in and said” boy what the fuck are you watching”. GREAT” are just some of the gems I found on Slap or Hellaclips.

The thing is, on top of managing to get the support from skate geeks, the Parisian crew even seem to have started a trend. American Blog Jenkem posted this sick part yesterday. Whoever made this is a genius:

Who knows, maybe Guillaume Périmony is just trying to rally skaters to the gay marriage protests that are kicking off in Paris at the moment.
