Last Summer part of the French converse team spent some time in Philly with Chris Mulhern, here’s what they managed to film. Most you already know how sick Remy Taveira and K-Rod are, but names like Roman Gonzalez or Vincent Touzery might be new to you. If so, the parts below should give you a better idea of why Converse picked up these underground rippers.

New trend: Use of 70′s homoerotic clips in skateboarding

When the Paris edit in the Megamix video came out a few weeks ago, I found the whole homoerotic vibe really funny, but a lot of skateboarders aren’t exactly very open minded, so I didn’t think it was going to be very well received. But I was wrong. Completely wrong in fact. That’ll teach me to have preconceived ideas about my fellow skaters. Why don’t I have faith in them anymore?

Anyway, the only comment I found that wasn’t praising the edit was, “French people are gay!”, and thats not exactly hating on it either, just stating the obvious.

Instead people were expressing their support. Well, kind of: “So gay it made me laugh my fucking ass off.” “COULDNT STOP LAUGHING THEY SHOULD RENAME IT MACHO TAILDROP” and “My Grandpa just came in and said” boy what the fuck are you watching”. GREAT” are just some of the gems I found on Slap or Hellaclips.

The thing is, on top of managing to get the support from skate geeks, the Parisian crew even seem to have started a trend. American Blog Jenkem posted this sick part yesterday. Whoever made this is a genius:

Who knows, maybe Guillaume Périmony is just trying to rally skaters to the gay marriage protests that are kicking off in Paris at the moment.

The French title of this clip “Fonds de tiroir” (meaning “the bottom of the barrel”) implies that it’s an offcuts edit. The things is, it’s jam-packed with tons of good footage from all over France and even includes a 3 minute Michi Mackrodt part, so I can’t really tell if the title is a joke or not… Maybe it’s just because some of the footage is a few years old. Anyhow it’s worth a look. Anyhow, the sheer amount of riders Grilladin has managed to fit in there means that you are bound to come across some skating that you’ll be stoked on. It features Remy Taveira and the rest of the Antiz team, Casey Rigney, Flo Mirtain, Oscar Candon, Timothy Deconinck, Joseph Biais and many more.

Tognelli Terrified – Skate Ghosts in Barcelona

Sylvain Tognelli is not only a hell of a skater (nominee for some shit at the Bright awards says it all!), he’s also the king of C-footage use. Here is another little gem he recorded in Barcelona, and now put together on a cold and lonely Friday night in Berlin. In fact he was so possed with getting this project done, he even ditched the session at that park, stating “if I go outside now, I’d probably die!” You see, he’s all on the morbid side of things. East German winters really seem to be getting to him. Maybe that’s why his short movie is all about paranormal activities too… who knows?
