For my instalment of ‘In Frame’ I tried to dig deep into the filing
cabinet, and hopefully find some photos that haven’t yet made it to
1: Benson, Livingston.
First up is a portrait of a very young Benson at Livington skatepark in Scotland from 2002. This was the first time I’d met Benson, and despite his tiny frame he was ripping. Benson would grow up to be one of the UK’s gnarliest, check him out here.
2 Jacob Sawyer, Hardflip.
Next up we have Slam City Skates stalwart Jacob Sawyer, hardflipping over a long gone hip in The City. The slide says 7/00 which makes this 13 years old, damn time flies!
3: Colin Kennedy, backside ollie.
Not sure exactly when this photo of Colin Kennedy was taken, but it looks like he was still on DC so I’d guess it was around 2001? It was taken in Sheffield, UK, it’s pretty nasty, rough spot, but I remember that Colin handled this backside ollie pretty easily.
4: Olly Todd, frontside bluntslide pop out.Â
I remember finding this spot after getting lost in Bloomsbury whilst looking for a processing lab, I couldn’t believe it hadn’t been shredded… Olly Todd set it off with this frontside bluntslide pop out around the corner way back in 2002.
This is from the Livingston pure fun skate party 2001. I remember
climbing the hill opposite the park at around 11:30 trying to get this
overview and get back down again before the real madness began at
11:58, during which the locals try and see how many of them can skate
the pool at once. I wish these events were still going, they were
