As you can see our second Travel Light edit is up and features British buddies Josh “Manhead” Young and Neil Smith exploring Slovenia. As with the first instalment we caught up with the accompanying photographer – in this case Jelle Keppens – to find out how it went.
Describe your Travel Light trip to me in one sentence:
Four days of wet feet.
Best tale from the trip:
We hooked up with a local dude called Urban Cerjak; he is a photographer and knows his way to all the skate spots. He told us on our last night there would be a big party at what he called the Christiania of Ljubljana. Plenty of girls, he said, and they are all easy when they are drunk and they have a foreign accent… GREAT!
Worst tale from the trip:
So we hold Urban to his word and head over to that place, all we ran into was guys holding hands…
How did you spend your rainy days?
We skated a crappy DIY park inside a squat and just drove around looking for spots. Oh and I watched a shitload of horror movies with Smithy, ‘cause our chicks don’t like to watch those.’
Did you bring home any souvenirs from your trip?
For sure! I got one of these typical tourist snow domes at a castle we visited one day. I always take one of those home when I visit a new country, for my chick, she loves those! Our closet is full of them.
Who travelled the lightest out of your crew?
I wouldn’t know, but with all the camera gear, for sure it wasn’t me. Probably Smithy, all he needs is a 5-panel.
Where would you have taken your trip to if you’d had been the one choosing?
I don’t know what got into Manhead for choosing to go to Ljubljana… I would have chosen a surfing trip to Bali. Actually I don’t care where the road takes me as long as the crew is good. I would go with those guys anywhere, anytime!
Best Sam Bailey story:
Every Sam Bailey story is the best story! His camera broke the last day, so he couldn’t film anymore – poor bastard!
